I joined the Sole Society hoping to stop myself from making too many wild guesses by searching the registers from around this time. I live in Canada. Tracing back from my Grandmother, Eleanor Rachel Cleveland (1884 Margate), I also seem to have the names: Sayer, Price, Solly and Pettit in my tree - all in Margate. It will be marvellous if the CD from the Society branches beyond the Solly name a bit, but if not I was wondering if anyone else in the Society has followed any of those names and wouldn't mind passing on some research.

I am sorry that I will not be able to help you. Mercy Solly in my tree was in 1745, I am still in some doubt about who she married, and haven't followed the Solly line forward from that time. I am replying in case you may wish to post your request elsewhere in the forum. Best wishes, Janet

Hi Colin,

I suggest you start a New Thread - just click on the Solley Research Forum, and then click on the New Thread button at the top left of the page.

As a heading use Solly in Margate, Kent and then in the text put similar details to this posting but include your mother's full maiden name and any other details you have. This will help others to make a link.

Best of luck

Tim
