    Default Aaron Ambrose Solly

Hi all. I am tracking Aaron Ambrose Solly born Circa 1826 in Thanet, Margate, Kent. He married my 3rd great Aunt Mary Ann Ryles in Adelaide South Australia. I have not been able to find any Solly entries into Australia, the Ryles family arrived in 1849.
I believe Aaron's parents were Aaron Solly and Elizabeth Jacobs. I have been tracking back through the LDS records but as we know they are not always acurate. If I have it right I have gone from Aaron and Elizabeth to John Solley and Sarah Bear, Stephen Solly and Ann Ansell, Michael Solly and Mary Jarvis, John Solly and Catherine Inkpott, Stephen Solly and Sarah Snode and Stephen Solly and Mildred Cocke.
Is there anyone out there who might be able to verify this for me.
    Regards

    Hi Kath

BEWARE - There are 2 Aaron's both descended from Stephen.
Aaron Ambrose was my Gt Gt Grandfather but I don't know who his father was.
    1. Aaron and Elizabeth Jacobs. (Too old for our purposes)

    The most likely is :-
    2. Aaron and Eliza.

    1841 census
Parish of Saint John The Baptist, Margate
    Vicarage Place
    Aaron Solley, 35 Constable c1806
    Eliza 35 c1806
Joshua 15 c1826 chr: 26 dec 1824 Saint Laurence, (Thanet), KEN, ENG
Aaron 14 c1827 chr: 12 feb 1826 Saint Laurence, (Thanet), KEN, ENG
Jonathon Robson 12 c1829 chr: 11 nov 1827 Saint Laurence, (Thanet), KEN, ENG
Alfred 11 c1830 chr: 6 apr 1830 Saint Laurence, (Thanet), KEN, ENG
    George 8 c1833
    Robert 6 c1835
Emma 5 c1836 chr: 24 dec 1841 Saint John The Baptist, Margate, KEN, ENG

The reason for this assumption is a Robert married in SA and named his father as Aaron.
But from his age stated he was born c1837.
Reuben (c1821) was supposed to be Aaron's brother but I can't find him anywhere.
Reuben's wife was a witness to Robert's marriage.

Not all shipping lists survive and only assisted imigrants were listed.
He probably arrived on the Eliza in 1849 as a full fare passenger.

    Cheers

    Hi Neville

Are you connected to Aaron Solly and Mary Ann Ryles? You mention that the Solly's may have came out on the Eliza in 1849. That reminded me of something an elderly cousin from my Saunders side told me several years ago.We had been discussing the family history and he said that the Solly's came out on the same ship as the Ryles. As you say if they were full fare passengers that is possibly why they are not on the passenger list that I have.
Could the Eliza married to Aaron Solley that you have listed also be Elizabeth Jacobs?

    Regards
    Kath

    Hello there,

A bit late but maybe this can help.
My great great grandfather was Frederick Solly born 1819. His parents were Stephen and Rebecca Solly( nee Hobbs). He was born in 1773 and she in 1778.
His parents were Stephen and Mary Ann Solly ( nee Steed.) He was born 1730/2. That's all I have at present but am trying to dig deeper ie further back!!
